MANILA, Philippines — August 6, 2025 — Bricks & Brew in Sta. Mesa came alive last week as more than a hundred Web3 builders, founders, and developers gathered for Core Connect IRL Meetup – Manila — a major stop of the Core Connect Global Buildathon, which boasts a prize pool of up to $1.2M. The most groundbreaking teams will earn the rare opportunity to pitch live on stage at TOKEN2049 Singapore, one of the world’s premier Web3 conferences.

The Manila meetup, co-organized by Web3 CAMANAVA and NEN Digital, convened some of the brightest talents in the local Web3 ecosystem to explore building trustless, yield-focused applications on Core — the Bitcoin Everything Chain.
📌 Reminder: Applications remain open until August 16 at 08:00 AM PHT for online submissions.
About Core
Core is a leading Bitcoin scaling solution that allows BTC holders to generate real yield while maintaining full self-custody. It leverages Bitcoin miners and BTC stakers through native CLTV timelocks, enabling secure, trustless Bitcoin staking.
What Happened in Manila
Hosted by Imz Asis and Riesell Saure, the meetup welcomed both newcomers and seasoned BUIDLers, all ready to take on the next wave of decentralized innovation.
Chris Flores (Core DAO – Community Contributor) and Akshaya Gangatharan (Core DAO – Dev Rel Contributor) introduced the Core ecosystem, breaking down how founders, designers, and developers can plug into the Buildathon before the deadline.
The panel discussion raised the bar, featuring:
Feb “Jukem” Leigh (CEO, Myth Games)
JC De la Torre (Co-Founder, Web3 CAMANAVA)
John Lorence Cahiwat (CEO, Skyshare Labs)
Pat De Jesus (CEO, Sudoers Security)
Chris Flores (Core DAO)
Akshaya Gangatharan (Core DAO)

The panelists shared hard-earned lessons from building Web3 projects, tips for standing out in competitive hackathons, and insights into what catches the eye of the Core Ventures team.
To cap things off, Metaversity spiced up the event with a raffle — giving away a JamboPhone, an unexpected but welcome twist for a Web3 meetup.
Co-Hosted with Pride
Web3 CAMANAVA and NEN Digital proudly partnered with Core for this gathering, uniting builders who believe in platforms that truly empower innovation. From big-idea founders to curious newcomers, the night was all about sparking collaboration.
About the Buildathon
The Core Connect Global Buildathon is more than just a weekend hackathon — it’s a multi-week innovation sprint designed to produce real, scalable projects. Builders can choose from diverse tracks including BTCfi, DeFi, AI, SocialFi, Web3 Infrastructure, and more — all anchored on the Core blockchain.
Projects are evaluated on originality, impact, usability, technical depth, Core integration, scalability, and open-source readiness.
The best-performing teams will advance to the Virtual Semi-Finals, receive mentorship from Core Ventures, and the strongest contenders will pitch live at TOKEN2049 Singapore — a career-changing stage for early projects.
